Question 22 :: What do we believe by faith?
Answer:
Jesus lived the perfect life I do not, died the death I deserve in my place for my sins, and was raised again from death for my justification.
Children:
Jesus lived a perfect life, died for my sins, and was raised again.
Romans 3:25
God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith.

Commentary:
Jesus is object of the Christian’s faith. Faith means trusting Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross was in my place, for the penalty of my sins (1 Peter 2:24). In faith, believers see Jesus’ resurrection as the promise that we too will be raised from death to everlasting life (Romans 6:8-11).
It is only through faith in Christ’s righteousness, understanding that we cannot earn righteousness of our own, that a believer’s good works can please God (Romans 3:21-24; Hebrews 11:6).
